Background Information

 

            The Oklahoma State Sports Media Program was first established three years ago as an independent club open for all university students. The Oklahoma State Journalism and Broadcast school began with the understanding that teaching students to work in the sports media field was not much different than some of the more traditional programs. With the combination of eager students and faculty with strong backgrounds and experience, Oklahoma State was the perfect place to pioneer such a groundbreaking program. Although other programs offered coursework, certificates or minors in sports media, only one other school, The University of Tennessee, offered sports media as a major option. Oklahoma State now offers sports media degrees with the option to specialize in print, broadcast or public relations and promotions.
